Code Red: Color Injected FRP
Aaron Asks:
Hi. I have a 2015 Red Minnie Winnebago TT. 2451BHS. I have used your rejuvenator with wax. Great Stuff!!!
However, the red is not even. There are patches it seems. I used the buffer to remove product with a wool pad.
Do I need to do the rejuvenator a 2nd time or wash and wax it now?
Pastor Aaron
Wade Responds:
Aaron,
You picked a hard color to buff out. Color injected FRP is what you are working with. Some of these panels prematurely fail and some of them just will not buff out. Sounds like yours is looking better, so that’s good. I think you might need to buff her out again. Work in small 2ft X 3ft sections. Liberally place the product on the area to be buffed. Work the product wet with your buffer until gone. Don’t let the product dry on the unit, you need to work with it wet and the buffer on as high of speed as you can handle.
After you get your trailer shiny wash with water, do not use soap or wash and waxes to wash. Soaps remove wax and wash and wax contains silicone that will build up and dull your finish.
Good luck!

Aaron Asks:
Would Beast Wash be okay? Or should I wait?
Wade Responds:
No, Beast Wash will remove your wax and all that hard work. You will only need to wash with water and a brush. If you have any areas that don’t wash up just use some Wade Wax or RV finish Restorer with wax by hand over the areas that did not wash up with water. The idea is to keep wax on your finish to help reduce the bleed through of your FRP.

How long can I use my buffing pad before changing out and washing? I only used this for the back end.
Pastor Aaron
Wade Responds:
Your wool buffing pad looks good to me. You can easily clean it by running the machine and carefully laying a flat head screwdriver over the pad. As the pad is spinning work the screwdriver back and forth over the pad at an angle, this will remove the compound build up. You can also machine wash your wool pad but let it air dry. By doing this your pad will buff out more RVs than you will ever want to.
Aaron Asks:
thank you for that great tip. What I also meant to ask was at that level of dirtiness do I need to stop using it clean it and then come back and use it again. Or can I just keep going until I’m done for the day?
Wade Responds:

You can keep going until you start feeling the pad jump or you are having a hard time getting a even shine. It’s the dampness of the pad that’s a problem.
Aaron Responds:
Thanks for the tip! Bought a second bottle of rejuvenator today!
Your product does wonders on faded red!! You can really see the red again on top.
Aaron Asks:
So I have gone over the RV twice with rejuvenator. It looks awesome when I finish, but a haze comes on by the next day. Do I need to water wash it or something else???
Help!!
Wade Responds:
Aaron
This is not good news! It sounds like your color injected FRP sidewalls are bad. You can try washing with cold water however that may not help. These panels are bleeding from behind and at this point washing won’t hurt your unit but to properly fix this problem, it will need to be painted. I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. It’s hard because you didn’t know what you had until you were done buffing it out. Often you can get a shine and with some maintenance keep it shiny. But there is also the chance of it looking great when done and just days later they bleed back out. It all depends on the state of your FRP. You may want to reach out to Winnebago and see what they have to say.
So, with all that being said, what can we do to help make your trailer look good on the cheap? She is already all buffed out so you have a good surface but nothing will stick to it because its bleeding. Let’s try to apply some lite oil on it, such as baby oil or tire dressing. The petroleum will become your new finish. It will collect dust, but you can wash it. If you do use soap, you will wash the old oil off and then can apply a new layer. You can also try and hand wax your trailer but I think it will just be extra work with limited success.
I know it sounds crazy but give this a try, I don’t think your buffing was in vain. Thinking outside of the box is your next step to keeping that shine.
